MacComms is a Leeds-based, award-winning PR agency. Founded and run by leading businesswoman Ellie MacDonald, MacComms helps entrepreneurial businesses to raise their profile and credibility.
Ellie has more than a decades’ PR and marketing experience in both public and private sector roles. MacComms has supported a number of SMEs with fast-growth plans across a range of sectors from tech to manufacturing and clients include The Car Buying Group, Vet-AI and Widd Signs.
Ellie is supported at board level by finance director Martin Mellor; alongside a team of freelance experts at director level. This includes a range of traditional and digital PR professionals with sector-specific, national and local contacts and expertise, as well as journalists, copywriters, social media and events experts to deliver consistent results and support business growth.

Ellie MacDonald
Managing director
Ellie is the founder and managing director of MacComms who personally supports each client alongside experts she selects to work with based on the client’s requirements.
Prior to setting up her business, Ellie undertook several roles within the marketing and PR industry, including marketing manager at the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce where she was the editor of business news publication, Close Up for Business magazine.
Ellie is also an accomplished PR account manager, having handled around a dozen client accounts during her time at another PR agency prior to setting up MacComms.
An award-winning entrepreneur, in her short time in business Ellie has won several awards and was recognised for her significant contribution to the region, having been presented with the Community Values Award at Entrepreneurial Spark Leeds’ Celebrate Success Event as well as picking up ‘Chiclet’s Choice’ award twice in succession for supporting her peers on the programme. Ellie is also Young Leader of the Year in Business Desk Yorkshire’s Leadership awards and Start-Up Businesswoman of the Year for Yorkshire and the North East in 2018 Forward Ladies. She was also highly commended at the inaugural Inspiring Women Changemakers Awards in 2017.
Ellie is incredibly passionate about giving back to her local community in Yorkshire and undertakes much charity work including managing the PR for Simon on the Streets, West Yorkshire homelessness charity. At the very core of MacComms’ is a business that is focussed on passion and treating people right.
