Yorkshire-based off-grid solar power company, Xerogrid has partnered with one of the world’s fastest-growing energy storage system providers, a Forbes China top 50 innovative business, with help from Energy Management and Industrial IoT company, Hark.
Leeds-based Xerogrid has been named UK technical partner for China-based Pylontech’s UK market, ‘Powercube’ battery systems to provide UK customers with commercial scale energy storage on and off-grid.
Established in 2009 by seasoned entrepreneur Ian Emberton, Xerogrid boasts 14 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. Xerogrid supplies off-grid power solutions to commercial and domestic customers across the UK, Spain and Africa.
Xerogrid and Hark, both graduates from the world’s biggest business accelerator programme, Entrepreneurial Spark, met each other (and MacComms’ very own founder, Ellie too) in 2016 and recently collaborated to deploy Hark’s, vendor agnostic cloud-based energy and IoT platform to Pylontech’s Powercube batteries. The technology allows Xerogrid to provide a comprehensive solution for business owners and energy managers to store and control commercial-scale electricity providing full monitoring and control of the systems.
Pylontech was founded in 2009 as a dedicated battery energy storage system (BESS) provider by consolidating its expertise in electrochemistry, power electronics and system integration to deliver reliable energy storage solutions globally. Named among Forbes’ China’s 50 most innovative companies last year, it has become a leading provider of energy storage systems worldwide.
Pylontech’s Powercube is a powerful grid-interactive renewable energy storage solution with intelligent system control.
Xerogrid now plans to accelerate its support for businesses offering a cost-saving alternative to high electricity costs or connections, saving energy-intensive businesses costs from grid-based electricity bills.
Industries it is supporting include farming and agriculture, leisure and travel and manufacturing.
Commenting on the partnership, Ian Emberton, founder and managing director of Xerogrid said:
“We’re so excited to be working with one of the fastest-growing global companies in the sector.
“Pylontech has provided our preferred batteries for our off-grid solutions for the previous five years. So to have begun this new journey in partnership with Pylontech and their impressive Powercube will help us to support further energy-intensive businesses to give more power to the people, cut energy costs and support environmental credentials.
“With the UK’s electricity grid situation becoming more complex with expensive connections and complex restrictions, we needed a vendor agnostic UK-specific solution and Hark has delivered just that.
“Jordan and his team at Hark have created incredible technology which allows us to monitor and control the whole site’s electricity systems remotely, including solar and wind back generators with the Powercube.”
Lily Cao, key account manager of Pylontech commented:
“We are very happy to collaborate with Xerogrid. Ian and his team clearly have ambitious plans to be the leading provider of containerised commercial battery solutions using Powercube across the UK and the integration of Hark’s system is particularly impressive. We’re honoured to contribute to a sustainable future by providing reliable battery storage solutions.”
